Guided by Rui Barbosa, we will understand better why Tude Sousa described the form, or hut, that the shepherds still use today to collect and shelter.
They are crude, light constructions of dry stones, generally poorly arranged, some covered and others not clods, covering the gaps. Covered with round tiles, Portuguese style; others covered with clod, garnishing wide and thin stones. Its dimensions and capacity are not large: 2 to 2,50 meters high, 2,50 and 3 meters long, with low doors, where the man passes curved and does not enter through the cattle. Three to six, or eight people, is the maximum that will fit them.
In 4 different walks, the Parque Cerdeira takes you through the Serra do Gerês, inside the National Park, in search of the heritage built on the mountain and that serves the local communities ancestrally. We will visit 32 corrals, with the typical shepherd's huts and also emblematic places in Gerês, such as Pé de Cabril, Meadows, Borrageiro, Arado waterfall, Poço Azul and Mata da Albergaria, in addition to the Via Romana.
