Project typology
Flora species management: Gradual replacement of exotic flora by indigenous
Habitat management: Recovery and Valorisation of Cerdeira Meadow
The restoration and preservation of the population of Oak trees will be done by gradually eliminating exotic flora, namely Resinus (Pinus pinaster) and replacing it with other native trees (common oak, Pyrenean oak, Silver Birch and Holly).
As for the Mountain Meadow, we are implementing measures for its recovery and valorisation. In the past, we were concerned with the installation of camping equipment, so it was decided to give it a different use by turning it into a leisure area. Now, the Meadow is a place of contemplation, study and educational leisure, namely by involving our clients in the identification of Flowers and their respective flowering periods.
Our population of Oak tree (Quercus robur) were certificated, and annually provides hundreds of kilos of acorns that are sent for germination in nurseries and then used for Reforestation.
The environmental valorisation project was adjusted over time, mainly because of the good results that served as base for the publication of the guidebooks for the identification of the Flora, the Birds and the Trees of Parque Cerdeira.
